Our Vision

Our vision is for every student in San Francisco to have one male teacher of color before middle school. See how UEA uniquely makes this possible by fundamentally changing the landscape of teacher recruitment, culturally responsive training and teacher support including housing.

Research shows that having a male teacher of color before sixth grade increases African American students’ grades.

We don’t have the representation we need in the classrooms.

When less than 2% of teachers are Black men and less than 3% are Latino men, this is the gap we face:
