URBAN ED ACADEMY

Mission + Vision

Mission - To provide adequate educational enrichment, family support, and advocacy for struggling communities of color. Urban Ed Academy aims to use a holistic approach to help students and their families succeed academically, improve social conditions, and well-being to become productive citizens of their community.

Vision - Founded in 2010, we provide STEM-based educational services that help 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students succeed academically and become productive citizens with the support of their parents, families, schools, and communities. Urban Ed Academy is committed to improving the quality of life in communities of color in San Francisco by eliminating the achievement gap in education.

Urban Ed Academy uses hands-on, interactive, and culturally relevant approaches to ensure students gain an understanding of themselves, the world around them, and how it applies to various academic and social settings. All academic courses--including math, electronics, and coding--are project-based and interdisciplinary to enhance the ability of students to see how traditional academic content is used in their everyday life. In addition, recreational and social development activities provide opportunities for students to interact with local mentors and enable them to see themselves in the future.
