Mission + Vision

Mission - Urban Ed Academy provides educational services that help elementary school boys of color succeed academically and prevent interaction with juvenile justice system. We believe increased cultural representation in elementary school experiences improves outcomes. We see early exposure to STEM opportunities as one step towards opening the door to self imagination.

Vision - Founded in 2010, we provide STEM-based educational services that help 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students succeed academically and become productive citizens with the support of their parents, families, schools, and communities. Urban Ed Academy is committed to improving the quality of life in communities of color in San Francisco by eliminating the achievement gap in education.

Urban Ed Academy uses hands-on, interactive, and culturally relevant approaches to ensure students gain an understanding of themselves, the world around them, and how it applies to various academic and social settings. All academic courses--including math, electronics, and coding--are project-based and interdisciplinary to enhance the ability of students to see how traditional academic content is used in their everyday life. In addition, recreational and social development activities provide opportunities for students to interact with local mentors and enable them to see themselves in the future.
